The benefits of recycling food waste

Food waste, when disposed of in landfills, can produce large quantities of methane gas, which contributes to global warming as a greenhouse gas.

By using anaerobic digestion to recycle the food waste, we are able to capture the methane. We can then generate clean energy, helping to protect the environment.

By capturing the biogas from just a single tonne of food waste, we can help avoid emissions of up to 1 tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent.

We process a wide range of different food wastes, including liquids, plant material and animal by-products. We also separate packaging from the waste, to recycle as much as possible.

We work with local authorities, contractors and businesses to help advise, process and treat their waste produce.
